Quotes

Here are some of our favorite things said by Charlie and Claire.

Season One

1.02 Pilot, Part 2
Charlie: That's French! The French are coming! I've never been so happy to hear the French!

1.03 Tabula Rasa
Charlie: So, your, uh... your husband, was he on the flight?
Claire: Oh, no, I'm not married.
Charlie: Oh.
Claire: I know. How modern of me.
Charlie: Well, who needs men, right? Bloody useless.

1.04 Walkabout
Jack: We don't have time to sort out everybody's God.
Charlie: Really? Last I heard we were positively made of time.

1.06 House of the Rising Sun
Locke: Pull yourself together, son.
Charlie: It wouldn't be an irrational fear of bees if I could just pull myself together, would it?

Kate: [About her T-shirt] It was, uh, it was full of bees.
Charlie: I'd have thought C's, actually.

1.07 The Moth
Charlie: Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It's been a week since my last confession.
Priest: Go ahead, my son.
Charlie: Last night, I had... relations with a girl I didn't even know.
Priest: I see. Anything else?
Charlie: Yeah. Right after that I had... relations with another girl. Then straight after that, I watched... while they had... relations with... each other.

1.10 Raised by Another
Charlie: [referring to the psychic possibly knowing about the crash] Maybe he knew Claire... I mean, if he had the gift, which I believe some people do, maybe he knew.
Claire: There was no couple in L.A... He knew... He knew the plane was going to crash...

Charlie: Is that another one? Okay, we need to time the contractions, that's what you do, time the contractions. Okay.
[counting]
Charlie: One sugar plum fairy, two sugar plum fairy ...
Claire: Charlie!
Charlie: [panicking] You just need to calm down, alright? Big deep breaths.
[he starts taking really deep breaths]
Charlie: Oh, bloody hell.
Claire: Charlie, I need you to get Jack!
Charlie: What?
Claire: I'll be alright...
Charlie: What? I'm not leaving you alone, I can deliver a baby. I can do this! This must happen all the time!
Claire: Charlie, you don't know how to...
Charlie: Wait, no listen to me. I'm not going to let anything happen to you. I might not know what I'm doing, but I'll figure it out. If I can kick drugs I can deliver a baby.
Claire: [looks at him funny]
Charlie: Let me explain.
[pauses]
Charlie: I'm a drug addict, I was a drug addict., I'm clean now.
Claire: Get Jack!
Charlie: Right.

Charlie: [smiles] Birthing emergency averted. I told you I'd take care of you.
Claire: Thanks Charlie.
Charlie: You're quite welcome. You think you can make it back to the caves? I won't let anything happen to you.

Charlie: I had this dream once. I'm driving a bus, and my teeth start falling out. My mum is in the back, eating biscuits. Everything smells of bacon. It's weird.

Charlie: [imitating Claire's diary] "Dear Diary, still on the bloody island. Today I swallowed a bug. Love, Claire."

1.13 Hearts and Minds
Jack: What do you think his story is?
Charlie: Who, Locke? Guy's a freak of nature. Highly disturbed. Chances are he probably killed all his mates at the post office the day his mum forgot to put a cookie in this lunch tin. That was my first impression anyway. Then he saved my life.
Jack: Then you trust him?
Charlie: Trust him? No offense, mate, but if there was one person on this island that I would put my absolute faith in to save us all, it would be John Locke.

1.14 Special
Jack: What is that?
Charlie: Claire's diary.
Sayid: You read her diary?
Charlie: Yeah, I know. I'm bloody scum.

1.15 Homecoming
Claire: I remember peanut butter. Why do I remember peanut butter?
Charlie: It was imaginary peanut butter, actually.

Charlie: You boys talk about Claire all you want. I'm actually going to go spend some time with her. I get the impression she might still be a tad upset.

1.18 Numbers
Charlie: You're not the only one with baggage, you know. Do you want to know what I was doing when the plane went down? Snorting heroin, in the toilet. I was such a junkie I couldn't even take a plane trip without having a fix.

Hurley: Back home I'm worth a hundred and fifty-six million dollars.
Charlie: I bare my soul, and all I get is bloody jokes!

1.20 Do No Harm
Jack: [on Charlie's scant collection of responses to the "blood type" question] You only asked four people?!
Charlie: I asked the whole sodding camp! Nobody knows their blood type! Most don't know their blood type! I don't know my own bloody blood type!

Season Two

2.10 The 23rd Psalm
Charlie: What are you gonna do, beat me with your Jesus stick? I find it kind of ironic that your scripture stick has dried blood on it. What kind of priest are you?

Charlie: Most people, when they see a monster made of black smoke, they run!

2.12 Fire + Water
Locke: Are you using again?
Charlie: Kate sees a horse. Pretty much everyone has seen Walt wandering around in the jungle, but when it's Charlie, it must be the bloody drugs!
Locke: It's funny you didn't answer the question.

Eko: Do you know what baptism is?
Claire: It's what gets you into heaven.
Eko: It is said that when John the Baptist baptized Jesus the skies opened up and a dove flew down from the sky. This told John something -- that he had cleansed this man of all his sins. That he had freed him. Heaven came much later.

Charlie: Who the Hell are you, John? You're not Aaron's responsibility! Where were you when he was born, where were you when he was taken? You're not his father, you're not his family!
Locke: Neither are you, Charlie.

2.16 The Whole Truth
Charlie: You looking at my bum?
Ana-Lucia: No, I'm looking at your gun.
Charlie: My what?
Ana-Lucia: Maybe you should give the gun to somebody who knows how to use it.
Charlie: Maybe I will. As I recall, the last time you had a gun you murdered someone.

2.23 Live Together, Die Alone
[Eko is about to detonate the dynamite inside the hatch to blow open the blast door]
Charlie: Eko, wait. Just wait a second. I-I don't think it's a good idea, Eko. We're in a very confined area. [Eko lights the fuse, and ducks behind the wall] Oh, bollocks!

Season Three

3.03 Further Instructions
Charlie: So, where are Eko and Desmond? Are they off being mute and building structures as well?

Charlie: What the sodding hell is a sweat lodge?

Charlie: You're not taking drugs are you, John? I only ask because of the strict zero tolerance policy you've enacted, and I wouldn't want you to have to start punching yourself in the face.

Charlie: You are aware John, that I detest you, aren't you? You do remember repeatedly punching me in the face and accusing me of using heroin when I was not.

Charlie: Hairspray? Now, I hate to be the one to point this out to you...
Locke: [smiling] It's not for me.

3.08 Flashes Before Your Eyes
[Charlie and Hurley are ransacking Sawyer's stash]
Hurley: Dude, I don't know about this.
Charlie: See, you're looking at this all wrong. He would want us to do this.
Hurley: He'd want us to ransack his tent and take his stash? Yeah, that sounds exactly like Sawyer.
Charlie: Well, he stole all this in the first place. I mean, people need food, they need medical supplies, they need... [Finds adult magazines] ...shocking amounts of pornography.

3.10 Tricia Tanaka Is Dead [3.10]
Charlie: So, when's it going to happen?
Desmond: When's what going to happen?
Charlie: Don't play stupid with me, brother.
Desmond: I was drunk. If I said anything...
Charlie: I have a right to know when I'm gonna die.
Desmond: It doesn't work like that.

3.12 Par Avion
Claire: You know, I'm not giving up on you either, Charlie. It's gonna be ok. You're gonna be okay. We'll get through this together.

Claire: What's gotten into you Charlie? You've been so depressed all week and now it's breakfast in bed and picnics.
Charlie: Well, I woke up this morning and thought it's time to stop feeling sorry for yourself and seize the day. And I can't think of anyone else I'd rather do some day seizing with than you. So what do you say? Let's drop the little cherub off with Auntie Sun and Uncle Jin, and you and I will go for a little stroll.
Claire: I'd love to.

3.21 Greatest Hits
Charlie: Anyone want to venture a guess as to what Jack is going to be showing us out in the middle of nowhere?
Hurley: I don't know... stuff--probably secret stuff.
Charlie: Why does everything have to be such a secret? How about some openness for a change?
Hurley: We kept the parachute lady secret.
Charlie: Ah, that's different.
Claire: Different, how?
Charlie: Well, because we weren't out there playing football with them.

Charlie: We're gonna be okay, you know.
Claire: Are we?
Charlie: We're alive on a beautiful island! We'll sleep under the stars and, before you know it, the helicopters will come and take us home.
Claire: You really think they'll find us?
Charlie: Well, yeah, why wouldn't they?
Claire: Thanks.
Charlie: I'm Charlie.
Claire: I'm Claire. Nice to meet you, Charlie.

Claire: Why didn't you tell me you were gonna do this?
Charlie: I didn't want you to worry.
Claire: Well, it's dangerous, isn't it? Swimming in to some underwater station.
Charlie: It's what needs to be done to get us all rescued. I'll be fine, Claire. But you gotta promise me something; while I'm gone, don't worry about me.

Charlie: So, first plane crash?
Claire: What gave it away?
Charlie: Ah, you can always spot the newbies.

[Charlie's "greatest hits" written on a sheet of paper]: 5. The first time I heard myself on the radio. 4. Dad teaching me to swim at Butlins. 3. The Christmas Liam gave me the ring. 2. Woman outside Covent Garden calls me a hero. 1. The night I met you [Claire].

Desmond: We're here.
Charlie: I want you to give this to Claire for me.
Desmond: What is it?
Charlie: It's the five best moments of my sorry excuse for a life, my greatest hits. You know, memories are all I've got.

3.22 Through the Looking Glass
Charlie: So much for fate.

Season Six

6.05 Lighthouse
The Man In Black: [to Jin and Claire] I hope I'm not interrupting anything?
Jin: John?
Claire: That's not John silly. That's my friend.

6.06 Sundown
Claire: Why do I have to do it. You could've gotten Sawyer or Jin...Or you could do it yourself?
The Man In Black: If I could do it, I wouldn't be asking you.
Claire: I want what you promised. I want my son back.
The Man In Black: I always do what I say.
Claire: You're going to kill them aren't you?
The Man In Black: Only those that won't listen.

6.10 The Package
The Man In Black: Is there something wrong, Claire?
Claire: Um... what you said to Jin... about the names on the wall? You told him you needed them all to get off the island?
The Man In Black: Yes I did.
Claire: So... was my name on the wall?
The Man In Black: Nope!
Claire: Then it doesn't matter if I get on that plane then. You don't really need me do you?
The Man In Black: That's not true, Claire. I need you. And there's plenty of room on that plane for all of us.
[Claire seems happy by what she has just been told, but at the same time slightly sad]
Claire: When we go home, Aaron's not going to know me. I'll be a stranger to my own son. He thinks Kate's his mother...Was her name on the wall?
The Man In Black: No it isn't. Not anymore. But I need Kate.
Claire: Why?
The Man In Black: Because Claire, I'm three people shy of getting off this island and Kate can help me get those people on the plane. But... once she does... then whatever happens, happens.

6.11 Happily Ever After
Charlie: This doesn't matter. None of this matters. All that matters is that we felt it.

6.13 The Last Recruit
The Man in Black: Were you following us, Claire?
Claire: Yeah,
The Man in Black: Why?
Claire:[Looking at Jack] Because he's my brother.
The Man in Black: Looks like you two have a lot of catching up to do. I'll leave you to it.
Jack: Claire, I'm-- I'm sorry we--
Claire: Did he tell you? That he was the one pretending to be our father?
Jack: Yeah, he did.
Claire: You know I pretty much gave up hoping that any of you would come back. And now that you're here...it's good to see you, Jack.
Jack: Yeah, it's good to see you too.
Claire: Well, I've never had much in the way of family so it really means a lot that you're coming with us.
Jack: Actually, I haven't decided if I'm coming with you.
Claire: Yeah you have.
Jack: What do you mean?
Claire: You decided the moment you let him talk to you, just like the rest of us. So, whether you like it or not, you're with him now.
